Well the swell dropped and so did the wind , making great waves only about 3ft in size. Beginners loved it small and clean and no crowded at all. We heard that padang padang was over crowded and Teko made a great choice in taking us there.

The swell seems to be rising and could be a solid 4mtres tomorrow so lets hope for BIG BIG Outside corner...Cant wait was great last week solid 10fters ...yyeeeeeeeeaaaiiirrrr

Yesterday was a "Super-Sunday" in the Surfcamp. In the morning we went down with the beginners and fun little white-wash waves made it easy to try take-offs. Everyone stood up and got the feeling what makes surfing so special: the push and accelaration and then the gliding. It was a bit messy for those who already paddle out in the line-up and it was not too easy to catch a wave to surf as peaks were shifting around a lot, but everyone caught some and was happy.

The last few days the massive swells we had were dying off and we having perfect conditions for beginners now as the waves are more gentle and forgiving.

Last days have been somewhat small but fun , today we headed to our Local at 5.45 to be the first in the water and get some great long rides , we split the groups and the others hit up Balangan and the more advanced checked out several spots before we decided on the east coast , bingin was almost flat with about 15 people on it , uluwatu crowded and maybe 3ft on sets , so i think we found spot of the day ................. which cant be named awesome 3ft on sets and clean long rights not a soul around

Fun day for all we then headed to the EDGE at ULU's for the late arvo bintang and sunset.

There is still plenty of swell around here in Ericeira Portugal. In the morning we surfed Foz do Lizandro on solid 5 ft to head-high waves. The wave period being 8 secs it was pretty hard work so we decided to have a look somewhere else for the arvo surf. We checked Backdoor, Reef and Matadouro but they all did not really work. So we ended up surfing Ribeira d'Ilhas and got some nice long rides. Would have been perfect if it was not for the crowds there. Forecast says the swell is going to stick around and the wave period is going to increase. So should be even better the next days.

In the early days of surfing in ancient Hawaii. Surfing was a deeply spiritual affair, from the art of riding waves itself, to praying for good surf, to rituals surrounding building a surfboard. Surfing was not only a recreational activity, it was also a training exercise for Hawaiian chiefs and a means of conflict resolution. There were two kinds of surfboard in these times, an 'Olo' (rode by the chiefs or the noblemen known as the 'Alii') and a 'Alaia' (rode by the commoners). The wooden boards were made using the Wili Wili, the Ula and the Koa tree's.
