Surfing Around Agadir

Morocco is the land of the long right hand point breaks, and the coastline around the Agadir area is riddled with spots. During the winter months they are all pumping. Morocco is best surfed in Europe's winter and usually good until late April.

Taghazoute is the main surf village in Morocco but riddled with cheap and scruffy Hotels. 1 km from Taghazoute is Tamaraght. It is 15km out of Agadir and only 40 minutes drive from the airport by car. This is where you will find Rapture Surf Camp.

First spot you come to from the camp is 11ths and 12ths. Both break off submerged rocks lefts and rights and run into a beach short but can be quite fun but usually flat. Beside that you find Banana Point. This spot is mainly for beginners. But if you have the right swell direction you can get about a 400 metre ride starting from Devils Rock through to the beach. Then you have beach breaks for 1 km known as Home Beach. Then comes Panorama and Hash Points - short and small - only working when there is a decent swell coming into Anka Point.

Anka Point is a must if you are going to surf Morocco, when it is on it can break up to a kilometer. Killer Point is a perfect spot to surf when it is about 4 ft and off shore. In between Anka's and Killers is Mysteries and La Source: short but fun waves. On a good day you can surf lefts and rights off both spots. For a short but fun barreling wave Boilers is a great option but it breaks on reef and in front of rocks. Not a spot for beginners. After Boilers you come to another spot called Mysteries. These 2 average waves are short and break over a flat bed of rocks. Then you can drive along the coast past several unnamed spots that can get good on the right swells.

After about 5 minutes of driving you come to Tamri Plage beach break. This is a very big beach open to all swells and winds. You will never find this spot flat. Great spot for kite boarders and surfers when there is no wind. The last place to surf within the area is Immesouane. This is about a 30 minutes drive from Tamri further north. A small fishing port with a beach break that has great rights and lefts with the right banks. On the left of the beach break is the port which has a 500 to 600 metre right hander which runs into a beach. This needs big swell to wrap around the man made pier. But on the right day it is one of the best (uncrowded) spots in Morocco.
