Morocco is the first place you hit heading south from Europe, separated from Europe by the Straights of Gibraltar. Morocco is the land of the long right hand point breaks, and the coastline around the Agadir area is riddled with spots. This ensures surfing uncrowded waves. There are empty waves everywhere and during the winter months they are all pumping.

Morocco is best surfed in Europe's winter and usually good until late April. The rest of the year can be pretty windy and non eventful. When the big swells run down the coast the point breaks come alive and our advice is to head to Rapture Surf Camp in Tamaraght and if it´s a really decent swell head to Safi if you like surfing solid 10 to 15 ft big barreling right hander. No much to do there if there's no swell it´s a small industrial town.

Agadir is the easiest place to get to by air. Taghazoute is the main surf town in Morocco but riddled with cheap dirty Hotels. You'll also require a car if you are to surf all of the points. 1 km from Taghazoute is Tamaraght it is 15km out of Agadir and only 40 minutes drive from the airport by car. This is where you'll find all the points and decent surf camps.

First spot you come to is 11ths and 12ths both break off submerged rocks lefts and rights and run into a beach short but can be quite fun but usually fat. Then you come to the first point Banana Point mainly for beginners but if you have the right swell direction you can get about a 400 metre ride starting from Devils rock through to the beach. Then you have crappy beach breaks for 1 km known as Home Beach. Then comes Panorama and Hash Points - short and small only working when there's a decent swell coming into Anka's.

Next Anka Point is a must if you are going to surf Morocco, when it´s on it can break up to a kilometer. Killer Point is a perfect spot to surf when it´s about 4 ft and off shore. In between Anka's and Killers is Mysteries and La Source short but fun waves on a good day you can surf lefts and rights off both spots. For a short but fun barreling wave Boilers is a great option but it breaks on reef and in front of rocks not a spot for beginners about 30 minutes drive from town. After Boilers you come to another spot called Mysteries. 2 average waves short and breaks over a flat bed of rocks. Then you can drive along the coast past several unnamed spots that can get good on the right swells.

After about 5 minutes of driving you come to Tamri Plage Beach break. This is a very big beach open to all swells and winds. You'll never find this spot flat. Great spot for kite boarders and surfers when there´s no wind. The last place to surf within the area is Immesouane. This is about a 30 minutes drive from Tamri further north. A small fishing port with a beach break that has great rights and lefts with the right banks. On the left of the beach break is the port which has a 500 to 600 metre right hander which runs into a beach. Needs big swell to wrap around the man made pier. But on the right day one of the best spots in Morocco and uncrowded.

If you are well prepared and are looking for unchartered waves then travel down south towards the desert or Sidi Ifni you will definatly find perfect waves. You will require a 4WD and food supplies. Many secret spots along the way.
