Sao Lourenco
This place can hold very big swell if the direction is correct. They say that it is the sunset of Portugal. Usually suits all types of surfers but can be a heavy wave.
Coxo's
A perfect right hand point break with many barrels to be had here. It´s not a spot for beginners as it is reef bottom with many sea urchins and heavy locals. This place can be one of the best spots in Portugal for long right hand barrels and fun rides, if not crowded. A hard spot to get in and out of .
Crazy Left
Can only be surfed at high tide and is a perfect spot for hollow left hand barrels. Short ride but fun and uncrowded - also rock bottom.
The Cave
The heaviest spot in Europe. This place is insane. Only the best in the world can surf this spot, as it breaks pretty much on rocks. This place was only discovered in the last few years by the local pro's. Looks perfect from afar but... It´s uncrowded and can only be surfed at high tides above 2 meters.
Pontinha
The furthest tip of Ribeira. It can be perfect with all the right winds and swell but usually closes out on a westerly. Uncrowded.
Ribeira D'lhas
Along right hand point which breaks over rock. This spot can have the longest waves in the area. It holds up to 12 ft waves and gets all of the swell in the summer season. It´s best when winds are from west/north west - usually crowded.
Reef
Very hollow and very shallow. Can´t be surfed under 6 ft. For pro's only. Some of the best barrels can be had here. Crowded with bodyboarders on the weekends.
Backdoor
This place is a summer break generating all summer swells. Best to be surfed on north/north west swells. Very hollow and has to be surfed at high tide. Uncrowded.
Pedra Branca
Also known as white rock. Extremely hollow left, holds large swell. Best surfed at 3-4 ft. Can only be surfed at high tide as is rock bottom. Usually crowded with bodyboarders on weekends.
Praia Do Norte
This place works well with all swell - another high tide spot. Not recommended to be surfed at low tide. Can be a good long right hander for all types of surfers. Uncrowded and is situated in front of the camp.
Praia do Peixe
Only breaks in big swell into a fishing port. Not a very good spot to surf.
Furnas
Another spot for solid swell. Can be an awesome spot to surf if the banks are right uncrowded.
Foz do Lizandro
Our home beach. It´s a river mouth beach break. When the sand bars are settled, this place can be the best beachy in Portugal. It´s best surfed on a south/west swell and a low tide break for all types of surfers. Great left and right hand peaky waves all over the beach. You can get barrels on mid tide. Great for beginners. Can get crowded.
San Juliao
Usually has the best surf and banks for summer. Long beach break and if your up for a 10 minutes walk down the beach, you can have a peak to yourself. Beautiful spot.
