From the surf resort, you are only a 15-minute walk through a beautiful jungle path to Playa Maderas, which is known as one of the most consistent surfing locations in the country. The beach is situated on the Pacific coast of Central America, only 2,5 hours from Managua Airport and 9 km north of San Juan del Sur – Nicaragua’s surfing capital and home to a number of great surf spots.

Whether you are a beginner or have surfed your whole life, the area around the camp offer great surfing conditions and year-round swells. Playa Maderas offers both bigger waves and smooth beach breaks for our surf school, and there are a number of other great spots within easy reach from the camp.

The Rapture Surfcamp in Nicaragua is based in a spacious 2-level building, on top of a hill overlooking the jungle, Playa Maderas, and the Pacific ocean. At the surf resort, you can relax with a book in the common area, watch a great surf movie through the projector or chill in one of the loungers by the pool. What better place to check the surf than from the refreshing water of the infinity pool? The camp features comfortable beds, delicious food, spacious areas and beautiful showers as well as magnificent sunset views.

From Maderas down to Playa Remanso, Playa Hermosa, Tamarindo, El Yankee and even Playa Escameca, offering you affordable surf lessons with our experienced and patient local surf instructors. For those who would like to experience the famous breaks in the north such as Playa Manzanillo, Colorado, Panga Drops and Santana, we offer boat trips on demand.

A big reason why Nicaragua is becoming a top destination among surfers is that of the weather conditions and the consistency of waves. Nicaragua Visas
Visitors from most countries can get a 90-day tourist visa on arrival in Nicaragua. At entry, you might be asked to show an onward or return ticket and pay a tourist tax of $10 US at the airport. Check your exact requirements before you travel.

You are allowed to bring 3 surfboards into Nicaragua for personal use. Additional boards will be considered as imports and customs will charge a fee – usually $100 US per board, but this is negotiable. In Nicaragua no wetsuit is required as the water temperature is warm all year round. You can bring your own surfboard or we can provide an appropriately sized board from the camp. We cater to all standards of surfer from beginner to advanced.

Cordoba, foreign currencies, and credit cards
The local currency is the Nicaraguan Cordoba but US dollars are also accepted. The exchange rate varies from day to day – 1 Euro is currently about 32,255 Cordobas. There are a lot of ATMs around San Juan del Sur and any major city in the area, from most it’s possible to withdraw both Cordobas and US dollars. Both Cordobas and US dollars are accepted at the camp.
