Many people ask us about the rainy season. We have spent many years in Costa Rica and the season is nowhere near as bad as they say online.
Usually the rain happens for 1 – 2 hours a day, this can actually be an amazing thing to watch as the storms that come with the rain can be incredible. The only thing you will notice is an increase to temperature and humidity. Wet season is a popular time for surfing in many other surfing destinations as well. The water is always warm, no wetsuit needed. Bring a rash guard to protect you from sunburn while surfing.
The Tamarindo area being part of the Northwest region of Guanacaste doesn’t receive a lot of rain, it stays mostly sunny throughout the year. The rainy season is the perfect time for surfing, empty beaches, consistent waves and no crowds.
