The tropical paradise of Bali is famous for being one of the most popular surfing destinations worldwide. The waves here are excellent all year round with consistent swells and an incredible selection of breaks for surfers ranging from the beginner to experts.
As with every Rapturecamp, our Bali surf camps are run by owners who love surfing and welcome all kinds of surfers from across the globe. We offer surf guiding, surf lessons, and even trips around Bali if you require a day away from the beach. To top it all off, the resort is surrounded by a gorgeous traditional Balinese garden with grass huts for you to sleep in, plus a spacious chill-out zone that consists of Balinese lounges and relaxing hammocks.
The Bukit boasts a range of reef and sandy beach breaks, including world-famous spots like Padang Padang, Uluwatu, Bingin, Nyang-Nyang, Impossibles, Balangan, Dreamland, Green Bowl, Gunung Payung and Nusa Dua — all within easy reach of our Bali surf camps. These are mostly pro-level or for highly experienced surfers, but beginners need not fear if they are accompanied by certified instructors.
Padang Padang rights, Balangan and Dreamland are ideal spots for beginners and those developing their technique. Their long unbroken walls are perfectly suited to learners and those practicing the art of surfing. Uluwatu and Padang Padang lefts (the “Balinese Pipeline), on the other hand, are more suited to experienced surfers and professionals.

When is the best time to surf in Bali?
Conditions are considered best during the dry season that runs from June till September when waves such as Uluwatu, Impossibles, and Padang Padang light up. East southeast tradewinds ensure that the wind stays offshore on the Bukit Peninsula while big swells pepper the coastline and cliffs, delivering perfect barrelling waves practically to our doorstep.
If you aren’t afraid of a little rain though you can also surf during April, May, and October, which is known as the monsoon season. During this time of year, there are still plenty of opportunities to surf, with Nusa Dua being one of the more popular places for beginners. There’s also the big bonus that you won’t encounter as many surfers in the water, which means more waves for you and your friends.
Hidden surfing treasure and plenty of adventures for all tastes
Due to the literally countless breaks and incredible winter surfing conditions, people travel from all over the world in order to experience their very own surfing in Bali adventure. In fact, many return again and again. Some never leave!
Another great thing about surfing Bali is the variety of breaks, which range from beginner level to professional and even “kamikaze”, which refers to the fact that you need to have a bit of a screw loose to attempt to surf them. Better yet, most of these spots are within easy reach of one another, with a famous cluster on the west coast of the Bukit Peninsula right near our surf camps.
