The local currency is the Colones but US dollars are everywhere accepted. The exchange rate varies from day to day – 1 USD is currently about 650 (Colones). There are a lot of ATMs around Tamarindo and any major city in the area and it’s possible to withdraw both Colones and US dollars. Most restaurants and shops accept all credit cards.
