The local currency is the Nicaraguan Cordoba but US dollars are also widely accepted. The exchange rate varies from day to day – 1 USD is currently about 31 Cordobas. There are a lot of ATMs around San Juan del Sur and any major city in the area and it’s possible to withdraw both Cordobas and US dollars.
