Welcome to Ifni, the hidden gem of Aourir, Morocco, where a vibrant surfing culture and epic waves await. Nestled along the captivating coastline, this coastal paradise has gained recognition among wave enthusiasts worldwide.
Morocco is a true surfing haven, known for its long, consistent right-hand waves. But in Sidi Ifni, we’re lucky to offer not just the famous right-hand wave “La Droite,” but also several exceptional left-hand breaks. Here, you can enjoy high-quality waves year-round in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Even during peak season, our point breaks remain uncrowded, and the friendly local surfers make every session even better.
The main wave, located just a few meters from our surf camp, is a long right-hand break at Ifni Beach. Perfect for surfers of all levels, this reef break is forgiving and works at both high and low tide. For those who prefer lefts, head further south along the same beach, where you’ll find a couple of lesser-known left-handers with mostly sandy bottoms. These waves are almost always empty and ideal for goofy-footers seeking solitude and quality rides.
At the far end of the beach, near the historic Spanish aerial tramway, lies a magnificent left-hand break. On the right conditions, this wave delivers powerful, hollow sections reminiscent of a Balinese tube.
South of Ifni’s harbor, you’ll find another standout left. Thanks to the shelter provided by the piers, this wave works even during large swells. With a mix of sandy and rocky bottom, it’s a long, high-quality wave that’s also perfect for beginners learning to surf.
Just ten minutes north of Sidi Ifni is the stunning Legzira Beach, famous for its natural arches and breathtaking rock formations. This idyllic spot offers both lefts and rights on a mixed ocean floor of sand and rock, with no dangerous sections. We even have a cozy beachside house there, perfect for turning your day at Legzira into a memorable adventure.
The south of Morocco is full of hidden gems—empty beaches, secret surf spots, and endless peaks waiting to be explored. Book our surf guiding or surfari packages, and we’ll show you the best of what this region has to offer!
At our surf school, we have a selection of boards that you can hire from our friendly staff. These include twin fins, longboards, and thrusters. With this variety you can surf everything from a ripple to overheard barrels, switching up boards as the conditions change.
The beginner category is for those who have never surfed before, or who haven’t surfed in a while and want to go through the basics one more time. It is a great fit for all people who are refining their techniques and gaining confidence. We’ll give you a fun introduction to surfing, and share the stoke when you catch your very first waves. We’ll make sure that you develop your skills in line with your level and that you’ll catch as many waves as possible while having fun with the other surfers.
A significant part of our guests at all camps are complete beginners, that’s why we offer lessons for complete beginners from Mondays to Saturdays and as you progress during your time at camp, so does the instruction you receive. Trust us, within your stay you might already be riding green waves with the help of our patient and experienced instructors and you will meet a new surfing family at camp that may stay friends for life.
Your first surf lesson begins with an instructor teaching you the basics on how to handle a surfboard, paddle out, catch a wave and get to your feet.
The main difference between beginner and intermediate surfers is their autonomy in the water. To be suitable for the intermediate group you should be able to get up on waves on your own, have a very strong paddling ability and be comfortable in the water in general. If this is still a challenge for you, you will benefit more from the beginner course instead.
Our instructors will help you to improve your skills, you will learn how to read the water, where to position yourself and how to turn on waves.
This module is focused on getting to the outside (lineup) in waist-high waves. We’ll teach you to catch green waves and ride the face of the wave instead of going straight in the white water. Our instructors will identify the important changes you can bring to your technique that will end up making a huge difference in your surfing style!
You will get personalized tips on how you surf and about what to improve as the quality of the waves you pick, the speed you are able to generate, and your agility on the wave. Our team will teach you how to use rip currents and as well refine your timing while picking up the waves to surf etc. All these factors can truly make a difference in your learning path. The more you train, the better you surf and the more you’ll end up loving it.
For advanced surfers, we offer one-to-one private lessons (or for a small group) with individual theory, video, and motion sequence analyses. This lesson focuses on the individual goals of each student and can only be booked directly at the surf camp for an extra cost.
To be suitable for the advanced group you need to be able to drop in confidently on 3ft+ waves, be comfortable surfing at low tide, and you should also have experience in doing top/bottom turns.
Other requirements for the advanced module are the ability to surf shortboards as well as the ability to duck dive, so if you’re not yet confident in head high or higher waves on your own we suggest trying to stick to the intermediate group for a while until you are ready for a bigger challenge.
All our instructors work together very closely communicating their students’ progress with each other, so you might start in an intermediate course and be suitable for our advanced sessions after a few days already.
We’ll give you the knowledge you need to feel confident in surfing most breaks, focusing on entry and exit from the break and we will help you decide which peak is the best for your level of surfing.
Surf guiding is always included in the room price and provided at no extra cost to all experienced surfers looking to surf at one of the many world-class breaks along the area around our surf camp.
This option does not include instruction and it is intended for surfers that know how to surf (level 3), but just don’t know where to surf in Morocco.
Our experienced surf guides will take you to the best waves suited to your ability and advise the best places to paddle out and inform you of any possible currents, rips, and dangers you need to be aware of.
If you do not fit into this category, but have skills more than beginner level that you wish to improve on, we suggest opting for the “intermediate” lessons instead.
The qualified local instructors at Rapture Surfcamp Morocco are knowledgeable, skilled, experienced and enthusiastic. They possess a deep knowledge of local conditions as well as surf spots and can help you find the best times and breaks for your skill level. If you’re not sure you’re ready to surf on your own, just ask one of our friendly guides for help. Most of our guests make great progress during their stay, thanks to the fantastic instruction provided at camp.
